Yeshua the Messiah Celebrated Chanukah
There is a Jewish holiday mentioned in John 10:22 that was not recorded in the Tanach (the Older Testament). Yet we note that Yeshua went up to the Temple to celebrate the Feast of Dedication (Chanukah), and He used that moment as a teaching opportunity. John 10:22-23 “At that time the Feast of the Dedication [Chanukah] took place at Jerusalem; it was winter, and Yeshua was walking in the temple in the portico of Solomon.”
What did Yeshua celebrate? Chanukah! That celebration regarding the liberation from the evil oppressors, and how the lights of the Menorah were rekindled in the Temple, and by that act we recall the re-dedication (Chanukah) of the Temple to the Lord. But Yeshua did more than just celebrating; He was also teaching and responding to questions regarding his Messiahship. John 10:24 “The Jewish [leadership] then gathered around Him, and were saying to Him, “How long will You keep us in suspense? If You are the Messiah, tell us plainly.”
Friends He did tell them and demonstrated that He is the Messiah and so we like Him will speak of His Messiahship and just like Him we too will celebrate the festival of Dedication, we hope you will be able to join us for our Chanukah celebration.
